AThe internet has changed modern life in many important ways. People use it to work, study, communicate, and access information. However, not everyone in the world has equal access to the internet. This difference is often called the 'digital divide'. It is one of the most serious technology issues of our time.
BIn many developed countries, most people have fast and reliable internet at home. Schools and offices use digital tools every day. As a result, children in these countries learn technology skills from an early age. Furthermore, online jobs and remote work have become very common. This has created many new economic opportunities for people.
COn the other hand, millions of people in developing countries still lack basic internet access. In rural areas, infrastructure such as cables and phone towers is often missing. Therefore, people in these regions cannot enjoy the same benefits as others. In addition, the cost of devices and data plans is too high for many families. This means that the digital divide continues to grow wider.
DDespite these challenges, some progress has been made. Many governments have started programmes to bring affordable internet to poor communities. Non-profit organisations have also provided free tablets and training to students. Although these efforts are helpful, they have not yet reached everyone who needs support. Bangladesh, for example, has expanded mobile internet access significantly in recent years.
EIf the digital divide is not addressed, global inequality will increase further. Education, healthcare, and business all depend on internet access today. However, solving this problem requires cooperation between governments, companies, and communities. Everyone deserves the chance to benefit from digital technology. With the right investment and planning, a more connected world is possible.
